EU-relations: Since the accession to the EU and until the election of the new government in October 2007, Poland was considered to be a difficult member of the EU: Boycotting negotiations that were in favour of a new common strategy with Russia, difficulties with the weight of votes in the Council of the European Union, polemics about the Charter of Fundamental Rights … Today Poland and France are making an effort that the EU will not question the common agricultural policy On the other hand the Polish population has a rather positive view of the EU. According to a spring survey of the Eurobarometer, 67% Poles consider the accession to the EU to be a positive thing. This number is higher than in most other EU countries, since the European average is 57%.

Kicking off 2008 without a missile shield

The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence of the University of Roma Tor Vergata, in partnership with Eurosduvillage group, is organizing the eighth edition of the Jean Monnet Summer Seminar a high level seminar on the functioning of the European Union addressed to graduate and Phd students as well as young civil servants. The seminar include two teaching modules lasting one week. The first module (4-8 July) will analyze the decision making process of the European Union while the second one (11-15 July) the foreign policy of the European Union.
