The Commission has pledged this sum of money to fund six carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects. These projects will develop technology to trap carbon emission from power plants. The six projects, selected from among eleven applicants, are based in the UK, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, and Italy. The commercialization of this low-carbon technology is another step towards the EU achieving its carbon reduction goals, ahead of the December Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
