Recently graduated from the London School of Economics where she obtained an MSc in European Studies : Ideas & Identities, Marilia intends to work in the European Commission as a translator. In 2008 she gained her BA in French and Italian with distinction, during which she spent a year as an Erasmus student in Lyon (France) and Parma (Italy). Apart from French and Italian, she is also fluent in English and Greek, her mother tongue. Her passion for languages and cultures acts as a motive for her in her aspiration to follow a future in translation. Combining her studies in languages and European studies gives her the perfect opportunity to understand how a text involving current European affairs needs to be translated. In addition, her interest in European matters makes her pursue even further a career in translation so as to contribute even a little to the EU’s integration and better communication amongst Member States.
"My European Dream’ is to see a Europe free from language and cultural barriers where countries appreciate each other for their merits, history, background and community. An open mind gives way to personal enrichment and respect for that which is different and new."
